The 38th BMW Berlin Marathon, on september 24, 2011
The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON is THE classic within the skating scene. It’s the largest skaters meeting of the year and the world’s final for all inline enthusiasts. Skate with 7.000 participants across the German capital! 42,195 spectacular Kilometers passing numerous sights. Solely because of the unforgettable and emotional finish after the Brandenburg Gate it’s obligatory to attend this big inline marathon.
The marathon in Berlin represents the perfect connection between professional and amateur sport in one event. It is open for everyone – leisure skaters, best time-hunters and pros.
On Friday, before the race, all skaters meet in the Inline Village at the former Tempelhof airport to get informed and discuss the novelties on the skating market. Distributers and the inline industry show their products and invite you to test them. It’s the big get-together of the skating scene that you shouldn’t miss! The pick-up of the race numbers takes place here as well.
On Saturday, all participants are positioned to their starting blocks according to their personal best times and they start together in the race. Therefore, everyone can skate the marathon in their own pace. According to the motto “Victory at the front, party at the back”, for the first time this year the last starting block will be led by a music truck including a DJ. This is the “place to be” for all beginners, Berlin fans, and those still partying from the night before. In this block it is more about the music than the pace. In the evening, all finishers let the day come to an end at the marathon party and dance up to the morning hours.
