The Spanish Federation of Skating Bets on the 2017 and 2019 Roller Games

The Spanish Federation of Skating Bets on the 2017 and 2019 Roller Games

With almost 200 people (athletes and staff) making the trip to the 2017 World Roller Games, the Spanish Federation is represented in all the 10 disciplines of this first edition. The delegation flew over to Nanjing, China, on August 23, 2017.

Words from the President

"The RFEP is aware of the importance of this event in the history of skating, in the world and in Spain. There will be a before and an after our participation in this event, the second edition of which will be held in Barcelona in 2019. The Roller Games are a qualitative leap for our sport, which develops and gets stronger year after year. That's why such an incredible human and economic effort has been made for all of us to be present in Nanjing. Last year, we reached one of our dearest dreams : the Olympics. Skateboarding, which is part of the World Roller Games, opened the door to the Olympics for us. A great challenge, but also an equally great reward for the sacrifice and amazing job of numerous people.

The WRG have become a huge opportunity for our disciplines to benefit from the showcase they deserve, and they may, in a near future, follow skateboarding into the Olympic program. Let's not forget either the entering of speed skating into the 2018 Youth Olympics, which will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

At the RFEP, we believe in the opportunity given by this event, that's why we've sent 10 selections, one for each of the disciplines represented in those world championships: Inline Hockey, Artistic Skating, Rink Hockey, Speed Skating, Freestyle Slalom, Roller Derby, Inline Alpine, Aggressive Skating, Downhill Skating and Skateboarding.

All the events will be streamed live on FIRS.TV and daily reports will be available on Teledeporte. Live shows will also be announced in due time. And of course, there will be updates on our website via a specific link.

Last but not least, I would like to mention the fantastic work done by the FIRS (International Federation of Roller Sports). Their devotion and efforts will make for a great sports and media success, and I have no doubts that all our followers, here and everywhere, will greatly appreciate this historical moment.

A huge thank you to everyone, and good luck."

Carmelo Paniagua Manso
President of the Royal Federation of Spanish Skating
